Puddle Ducks’ Pyjama Week

Children across the nation donned their pyjamas and took the plunge recently, taking part in baby and child swim school, Puddle Ducks’ Pyjama Week.

The event, sees Puddle Ducks’ franchisees across England, Wales and Scotland take part in the initiative, teaching little swimmers and their families vital swimming techniques, especially how it would feel if they ever found themselves in water fully clothed.

It is often the favourite lesson for many of the swim franchises little swimmers, and many teachers, with the fun exercises helping children to remember key skills for staying safe in the water.

Jo Stone, co-founder of Puddle Ducks commented: “Our Pyjama Weeks across the UK help children to experience how it feels to be submerged in water fully clothed, and what actions they would take to reach safety. It’s also a great opportunity for our franchise offices to come together and get involved in a network wide campaign”.

Whilst some of the network chose to support charities close to their hearts or local to them, the majority of the network once again supported Children’s Hospital Pyjamas. The UK based charity collects donations of brand-new pyjamas, from the public, which are then donated to Hospitals, Hospices, School Hospital Teams and Women’s refuges up and down the country. These are then given to poorly or less fortunate children who are inpatients.

This year the swim school collected 1307 pairs of pyjamas and raised just over £18,000, thanks to the fundraising efforts of the network and their customers.

A Children’s Hospital Pyjamas spokesperson said: “On behalf of everyone at Children’s Hospital Pyjamas, I want to express our deepest gratitude for your incredible support and generosity to all the franchises that have supported us. The funds you have raised, along with your thoughtful donations of pyjamas, have made a tremendous difference to us.”

“Thanks to your kindness, we have been able to continue to provide soft, comforting pyjamas for the children at over 250 hospitals, hospices and women’s refuge centres. We have even been able to add new places to the ever-growing list this year. Something as simple as a warm pair of pyjamas may seem small, but to a child facing a hospital stay, it brings comfort and a sense of home. Your support has truly helped brighten their days and bring them a bit of cheer during what can be a challenging time”.
