Job Seekers Flock to Care Provider’s Recruitment Day

Yorkshire home care provider, Caremark (Barnsley) was inundated with enquirers at their recent Recruitment Fair held on Monday 3rd November 2014 at the Metrodome Leisure Centre.

Caremark (Barnsley)’s Recruitment Officer, Tracey Fisher said: “I am absolutely thrilled with the number of people that attended. We had over 20 people queuing to come in before we opened and over the following four hours we had in excess of 70 people through the doors to apply for care jobs with us.”

Based in Barnsley, the care provider delivers a bespoke care and support service to people of all ages, abilities and ethnicities in their homes, enabling them to remain living safely and independently as well as supporting them to maintain social activities.

Tracey continued: “The setting was terrific and the Metrodome staff were incredibly helpful in assisting us to set up. Nothing was too much trouble for them, so a big thank you goes to them.

“We received very positive feedback from those in attendance commenting on how professional the event appeared and particularly the level of information we provided. All in all it was a great day.”

The flexible working hours of a care worker is one of the factors which attract job seekers, especially as shifts can work around family life.

And for some people, what starts as a part time job leads to a greater commitment to the world of social care. Then comes a desire to study and acquire qualifications and ultimately a change of career.

Care work is still attracting more women than men despite the fact that men make excellent carers. With the increasing need for well-trained care workers, home care companies are keen to receive enquiries from both sexes.
