Home Instead Cardiff Awarded ‘Gold’ by Investors in People

We are proud to announce that the Cardiff franchise office of Home Instead Senior Care has this week been awarded the Investors in People Gold standard – an impressive achievement.

The award sees Home Instead Senior Care, Cardiff joining the top 7% of accredited organisations across the UK who believe in realising the potential of their people.

The initiative to achieve the highly desirable Gold standard was led by franchise owners Kate and Phil Batchelor (pictured) who were keen to ‘go for Gold’ having already been awarded Bronze status in 2012. The Cardiff office of Home Instead was established in 2009 by Phil who was joined last September by his wife, Kate.

Like all Home Instead offices, the Cardiff office has a stated mission to become the employer of choice in the care sector and this award will without doubt help them to reach this goal. Investors in People is the UK’s leading accreditation for business improvement through people management, and provides a wealth of resources for businesses to innovate, improve and grow, with a focus on good people making great business.

In order to achieve the standard IIP accreditation companies have to meet 39 evidence requirements from the core IIP framework. To achieve Gold status the Cardiff office of Home Instead had to meet an additional 126 requirements! Requirements included managers having a business plan with measureable performance objectives, staff being able to describe the organisation’s core values and that people believe that their work-life balance is valued and part of the culture.

Speaking about the accreditation, CEO of Home Instead, Trevor Brocklebank said: “I would like to congratulate Kate and Phil on their Gold IIP standard. This level of accreditation can only be achieved by people who adopt great people management practices. It demonstrates that they are totally committed to staff development. Of course, an award such as this is a team effort so our congratulations extend to the whole team in Cardiff.”
