Young entrepreneur and founder of ChicP, Hannah McCollum, to be keynote speaker at The National Franchise Exhibition

Entrepreneurs will be steered to success at The National Franchise Exhibition at the NEC Birmingham on 15 & 16 February 2019

The National Franchise Exhibition shines a light on the opportunities that franchising presents to those wishing to be their own boss, gathering franchise brands across all sectors to the Midlands for two days. It also acts as a platform to share vital business knowledge and inspiration.

The Growing Your Own Business Conference runs parallel with the event and is designed to help existing and aspiring entrepreneurs grow a successful venture, whether that is a franchise or independent enterprise. Free to attend, the conference brings together industry experts and established entrepreneurs to offer practical advice and encouragement.

Anyone looking to boost their motivation to grow or launch a new business should attend the keynote presentation of young entrepreneur Hannah McCollum on Saturday 16 February.

Appalled by the waste she was witnessing in her career in the catering industry, Hannah was inspired to take vegetables that would otherwise end up in the bin and turn them into tasty, healthy houmous. She set up ChicP in 2015, heading to New Covent Garden Market in London every week to gather vegetables that were deemed too low-grade to sell to the public.

Three years on, ChicP is using surplus vegetables to make a variety of delicious houmous flavours which are stocked by the likes of Selfridges, Fortnum & Mason and Ocado. Hannah’s hard work has seen her win the Trailblazer award at Food Vision 2017 and earned her a place as a finalist at The YBF (Young British Foodies) Awards 2017.

In her presentation, entitled Growing my own business, Hannah will share her journey so far with ChicP and the essential things she has learned along the way. Hannah comments:

“Setting out with your own business is much easier when you have a fire in your belly about what it is you are doing, what you are contributing to the world. My passion for sustainability is what fuels me every day to get up and take action with my business. This action is what has grown ChicP to what it is today.

“I hope to inspire my audience to reflect on what it is they really care about and to put that at the heart of whatever venture they pursue, because passion equals action, and action equals progress.”

Also on the schedule at the Growing Your Own Business Conference are workshops from experts in sales, crowdfunding, business planning and management, as well as a hub for networking and one-to-one consultations with experts in business growth.

Visitors are free to explore the extensive exhibition of franchise brands which include Fit20, Radfield Home Care, Garolla, The Alternative Board and First Class Learning. All exhibiting brands have been assessed and accredited by the British Franchise Association (bfa).
