System for franchise area allocation
Franchisors, Pressing Matters have produced a simple (but effective) system for franchise area allocation, without spending tens of thousands of pounds on individual feasibility studies for each area. They found that allocating franchise areas was one of the most difficult problems to overcome when they first started franchising, and made many mistakes in offering over generous areas, by just using postcode information and geographical maps.
The system Pressing Matters developed, (initially for their own use) enables Franchisors to create 19 pre set master franchise areas and 173 pre set regional franchise areas, by concentrating on the major populated areas in England, Scotland and Wales. The 19 master areas and the 173 regional areas have clearly defined maps, which can be used to form part of a legal contract for master or regional franchise areas, in addition to the regional map, the following demographics are included for each regional area:-
Total Adults 15+
Households with Car
% Cars to households
Total households
Upmarket households (ABC1)
Owner-occupiers
Total businesses
The system includes 19 superbly presented manuals, together with laminated national index maps which can be used at exhibitions, meetings and franchisee interviews, and an interactive CD is provided, which allows each of the 366 pages of master and regional areas to be printed out individually, they can also be sent out (or included) with a franchise information pack, the information is also compatible for using with slides for professional presentations for prospective franchisees, and “in house” company development and planning.
During the development of this unique system Pressing Matters enlisted three established franchise companies, all of which have adopted the system – one of the most respected franchise companies in the industry is now using the system for franchise area recruitment , and where beneficial, contract renewals.
