Multi-unit Franchise Conference 2023 programme revealed

Exclusive conference to reveal how to multiply success with multi-unit franchising.

Ambitious entrepreneurs will learn how to leverage the full potential of franchising at the Multi-unit Franchise Conference & Networking Lunch at Olympia London on Friday 9 June.

Existing franchisees looking to expand, or those with the liquid capital to invest in more than one unit from the outset, will find the Multi-unit Franchise Conference an invaluable opportunity to learn more about this lucrative approach to business.

Dedicated to shining a light on multi-unit franchising and exploring the unique challenges and rewards of running a portfolio of businesses, the conference will feature panel discussions with inspiring multi-unit franchisees as well as a Keynote Interview with one of the UK’s most successful franchise entrepreneurs. Throughout, delegates will gain first-hand insights into how best to adapt and evolve to stay at the forefront of their chosen sectors.

A highlight of the day will be a Keynote Interview with Atul Pathak OBE. Atul began his franchise journey in 2003 when he bought his first McDonald’s franchise. By 2022, he ran the UK’s largest McDonald’s franchise network with 43 restaurants across London and Berkshire. In 2015 Atul was included in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list and received an OBE for his Services to Entrepreneurship, speaking to his experience of employing and managing a workforce of over 3,500 staff with a customer base of 30 million a year. He sold his business last year in search of a fresh challenge and has since invested in German Doner Kebab and Ben & Jerry’s to build a business he can hand over to his family when he retires. His wealth of expertise within the sector ensures this will be an unmissable opportunity to hear from a franchise trailblazer.

Expanding a portfolio of businesses across multiple geographical locations or sectors – and the growing workforce that comes with it – can challenge even the most experienced business owner. During a session entitled ‘Leading from the front: How to manage a multi-unit, multi-brand business’ panellists will share their personal experiences of adapting their management style to allow their business to thrive. Speakers include franchisees from a range of brands and sectors including Starbucks, Logiscool, Home Instead, easyStorage, CeX and Miniso.

A second panel will draw on their personal experiences to discuss ‘How to stay successful in evolving markets’. Highlights of the speaker line-up include Angelina Mouralidarane, Commercial Director at Iceking Group – a multi-unit franchisee for KFC and Pret a Manger – and Suhail Rehman, owner of Home Instead and easyStorage franchises.

Angelina completed her MBBS, BSc and PhD in world-leading institutions including University College London, Kings College London and St George’s and practised as a doctor before joining the family business. She has a unique skill set that enables her to address multiple business areas and resolve persistent business challenges.

A strong advocate of franchising, Suhail has been actively involved in the sector for over 10 years. During this period he has built the largest Home Instead operation in the UK, with branches stretching from Ayr to Aberdeen which employ over 400 care professionals and team members. Building upon this experience in the service sector, his team recently opened the first easyStorage franchise in Scotland.

Tracy Shah, Director at Venture Marketing Group who organise the conference, comments:

“Multi-unit franchising is on the increase, and it’s easy to understand why. Franchising offers an optimised route to business success and the nature of its format means this success can be multiplied exponentially.
“The Conference combines real-world examples of the potential of multi-unit franchising with insights and advice from leading operators, so that attendees leave with a thorough understanding of why and how they could expand their business empire.”

Places are strictly limited at this exclusive conference. Those wishing to attend must contact multiunit@vmgl.com or call 020 8394 5200.
