Franchisees ensure Driver Hire delivers record results

Driver Hire franchisees have plenty to celebrate right now. The transport & logistics recruitment business is celebrating another record breaking year. Turnover for the twelve months to the end of March 2018 increased by £8m to £108.5m – an 8% increase on 2016/17.

Driver Hire’s 92 franchised offices contributed to the record-breaking figures with some outstanding individual performances; just short of half the network passing £1m turnover and 13 Driver Hire franchisees hitting £2m+ turnover.

This marks Driver Hire’s fifth record year in succession and its seventh year of consecutive year-on-year growth. On average, Driver Hire covers 4,200 shifts per week through its network of 100 offices nationwide, from Inverness to Cornwall.

The average level of annual turnover at a Driver Hire franchise is now £1.2m. That’s three times the national average figure published in the most recent NatWest/bfa survey (published 2015). Average net profit at a Driver Hire franchise is £140,000. Over the past twelve months, Driver Hire’s franchise sales team has received over 1200 enquiries from potential investors.

Commenting on the results, a delighted Chris Chidley, Driver Hire’s Chief Executive said: “Our franchisees work with nationally known, blue chip clients, helping to ensure they meet their delivery deadlines. As this strong set of figures shows, not only are they attracting new customers, they’re doing more business with existing ones. Our franchisees continue to deliver outstanding levels of service, which has been confirmed by the results of our annual survey*. All these factors contribute to the high demand for Driver Hire franchises whenever one becomes available.”

Now into its 34th year of trading, Driver Hire is the UK’s largest specialist supplier of staff to the road transport and logistics industry. Its franchisees provide temporary and permanent drivers and other logistics staff to local and national organisations in both the public and private sectors. If they’re short of staff – perhaps because of illness, holidays or seasonal demand – Driver Hire will supply them with a suitable replacement. Highly regarded, Driver Hire has been a bfa ‘Franchisor of the Year’ finalist in 12 of the last 13 years and has won the award outright four times.
