Energie Fitness: It’s official – Budget fitness is big business

Fitness franchising has been hitting the headlines this week. The latest statistics show that the case for starting your own business in the fitness sector is stronger than ever. This week, énergie Fitness, owner of the Fit4less brand was featured in the Guardian. The article drills down on the key factors behind the growth in the fitness industry, driven by low-cost gym operators such as Fit4less by énergie.

The Golden Age of Fitness is here

The Guardian article comes on the back of the recently published 2017 State of the UK Fitness Industry Report. Released this week by respected industry analysts LeisureDB, the report shows that the UK health and fitness industry is continuing to grow. The low-cost market has continued to be the main driving force behind the private sector growth over the last 12 months.

énergie Fitness, owner of the Fit4less brand is ranked as the third largest low-cost operator in the UK, and the only significant low-cost operator in the franchise sector.

Commentating on the figures, David Minton, Director of LeisureDB said: “It may be premature to call the period to 2020 “the golden age of fitness” but further growth will only be limited to the imagination of those pushing the boundaries. The signs are there that the industry is likely to hit several milestones in the next 12 months. The number of gyms is on course to go over 7,000 for the first time, total membership to exceed 10 million, market value to reach £5 billion and the penetration rate should easily surpass 15%”.

Proof indeed that there has never been a better time to start your own fitness franchise business as we enter “the golden age of fitness”.
