Introducing the British Franchise Association – and why membership matters.
Who we are
The BFA (British Franchise Association), founded in 1977, is the franchise industry’s self-regulatory body. Formed by a collection of some of the largest and most well-respected brands in the industry at the time, their mission was, and still is, to ensure that franchising is always carried out in an ethical and professional manner, giving people a chance to ‘Discover their tomorrow’ in a safe and profitable way.
What we do
Our role is multi-layered. Firstly, and most importantly, we are here to uphold the standards laid down by our code of ethics, based on the European Code of Ethics, that all BFA members sign up to.
We are also here as a source of information for prospective franchisors and franchisees, offering not only a host of educational articles on our website but also running monthly online meetings for them to find out more about becoming a franchisee, or franchising their existing business.

Educational support
Once a brand becomes a member of the BFA, our entire team strives to help and support them to build a strong, ethical business. Education is at the heart of everything we do at the BFA and as such members
have access to a host of free and paid educational events, to ensure they have the very latest information
to run successful businesses. Some of the subjects on offer via our online Monthly Masterclasses include: Recruitment and Retention, Maximising Territory Efficiency and Leveraging AI for Business Transformation: Driving Innovation and Efficiency – all subjects at the core of being a successful franchisor.
