Mike Spencer, Executive Director, Heart With Smart Group

Mike is an Executive Director and major shareholder in the Heart With Smart Group, one of the largest franchise operators in the UK, representing Pizza Hut Restaurants and itsu in 192 locations across England, Scotland and Wales.

Mike has been the Business Development Director since 2015 and is primarily responsible for developing the business from a single brand franchisee to a multi-brand business. HWS have recently become itsu’s first strategic franchise partner.

In addition, Mike looks after the Group’s 192-unit property portfolio and led a £70million investment programme for the group across the Pizza Hut portfolio including asset, menu and operations. Mike was a key part of the team buying the restaurant business from Yum in 2012 with Rutland Partners and staging a subsequent management buyout.

Prior to this Mike was the Chief Operating Officer for Pizza Hut Restaurants and also led their menu and food development.
