Zambrero opens a new restaurant in Glasgow’s West End

Zambrero, the modern Mexican restaurant group, has opened a new restaurant in Glasgow’s West End, which is also the first in Scotland and the brand’s largest in the UK.

Located at 333 Byres Road, the restaurant opened on Saturday 7th February, and has created 15 full and part-time jobs. Serving up a fresh take on Mexican favourites, it offers both dine-in and takeaway options, perfect for a quick bite on-the-go or a more leisurely meal, with seating for more than 40 customers.

Famous for its burritos and bowls, Zambrero also offers tacos, nachos and quesadillas, with slow cooked meat fillings, as well as vegetarian and vegan menu options.

At the heart of Zambrero is its hugely successful Plate 4 Plate humanitarian initiative. Every time a burrito or bowl is purchased at any of its restaurants, Zambrero sends a nutritious meal to someone in need in the developing world via its charity partner, Rise Against Hunger℠. The combination of delicious freshly prepared food and giving back is why Zambrero call themselves Feel Good Mex.

Zambrero opened a delivery kitchen in the city near Scotland Street in September 2025, which has received a great response from residents, commuters and visitors eager to experience Feel Good Mex for themselves.

The new restaurant has been opened by experienced Zambrero restaurant owner, Dan Hawley, who is hugely passionate about the brand and its Plate 4 Plate initiative. Having already run four restaurants in Australia, Dan relocated with his family to launch Zambrero in Scotland. Hawley lives in Glasgow with his wife, Kim and three children – Kit, 10, Genie, 8 and Ruby, 1.

“I’m thrilled to have opened the first Zambrero restaurant in Glasgow and Scotland. We’ve already had a great response, with hundreds of people coming out to support us on our opening day.”

“I saw an incredible opportunity for the brand here. Glasgow’s food scene is already bursting with amazing options, but I truly believe Zambrero’s vibrant flavours – and our mission to help end world hunger – will not just earn us a spot, but make us a standout favourite among locals. We can’t wait to share our Feel Good Mex with the West End community.”

Globally, Zambrero has more than 350 restaurants in Australia, Ireland, New Zealand, the USA, and the UK, and is the largest Mexican restaurant franchise in both Australia and Ireland.  Since its 2021 launch in London, Zambrero UK now has restaurants located in London, Manchester, Birmingham, Reading, Essex and Glasgow. It is aiming to open 100 restaurants by 2030 in an initial growth drive through its franchise programme.
