Q&A with Rush franchisee, Leona from Rush Twickenham

Rush’s 65th salon was opened in Twickenham with long standing employee and now Franchisee, Leona Loosley. Leona started as a Rush assistant and worked her way up to open her own Rush salon. Her passion for hairdressing and strong business acumen inspired her to open a Rush franchise in her home town, Twickenham.

Leona shares her franchise experience, her day to day work and advice for aspiring franchisees.

Why did you decide to open a Rush Franchise?

My passion is for hairdressing but I also have strong business acumen so franchising was the next logical step for me. Rush really supports all their employees and encourages growth within the company through their various training courses, I wanted to pursue the business side of hairdressing and to own my own salon so decided to franchise.

What training and support did you receive?

Rush has given me lots of support and training every step of the way, as well as the strong support that I have from my family. Rush found the location, fitted and designed my salon and recruited my fantastic skilled team for me. The marketing team have driven lots of clients in from the minute I opened.

What is a typical day for you as a Rush franchisee?

Not only am I a franchisee, I’m also a stylist in the salon. So a typical day for me is arriving at the salon before opening and preparing for the day, my day is filled with serving clients as well as keeping on top of the managerial side of things and supporting my team.

In your opinion, what makes a successful franchisee?

A successful franchisee must be committed, determined, and have a real passion for what they do as there’s no denying it’s hard work but very rewarding.

What advice would you give to someone thinking of buying their first franchise?

Think long and hard as to whether you think now is the right time to open your franchise as you have to be able to give 110% of yourself to it.

But for me, I love what I do, I have a passion for hairdressing and it has been worth it, I’m so happy I made this decision.
