Mersey Tunnels contract prompts Merseyside growth for expanding fire & security franchise
The award of a contract to service fire alarms, intruder alarms and gas suppression systems in both Mersey road tunnels is prompting the opening of a new franchise for an expanding firm.
The £50,000 contract award from Merseytravel has been secured by Jackson Fire & Security’s Wirral franchise.
The firm won the contract against strong competition and is the latest in a string of new clients signed up by the firm in Merseyside.
And franchisee Lee Fowler today revealed this latest tender success is prompting the company to open a second Merseyside franchise, in Liverpool city centre, in September.
Jackson Fire & Security will maintain suppression and detection systems within the Mersey Tunnel estate which includes ventilation stations, various pump rooms, control centre, office accommodation and maintenance workshops.
The firm is also on call to attend site if the systems are activated during an incident.
Lee Fowler said:
“I am pleased with the support I received from head office in order to win this prestigious contract with a large and well-known local firm. Our in-house expertise makes the whole bidding and tendering process a lot easier. We are confident the PR we are carrying out to promote this contract award, will lead to increased contracts for both the Wirral and Liverpool franchise in the coming months.
“Jackson Fire & Security doesn’t stand still. It is innovative and because it opens local offices and appoints local people, we can respond very quickly. Customers also aren’t paying for an engineer from another part of the country to drive to their premises to carry out maintenance. We can price competitively and I’m looking forward to winning more work.”
He added:
“Jackson’s have doubled the size of its network in the last three months. With new franchises established in four new locations in the past three months, the network now services the needs of public and private sector organisations the length of the country through eight branches, with plans to open ninety branches throughout the UK.”
Merseytravel Technical Services manager, Gerry Nolan, said:
“We are looking forward to a mutually supportive working relationship which I am confident will give Merseytravel value for money during the term of this new contract.
Formed in 1991, the company has built a reputation for quality, reliability and service, and is a NSI and Siemens’ gold-accredited partner for fire and systems.
