From hatch to riches: reshaping More Than Loft Ladders into a franchise built to scale

More Than Loft Ladders (MTLL) has marked a record-breaking year of growth, with turnover rising by close to 70% and its franchise network expanding from 10 to 15 franchise partners.
Behind the figures, MTLL has been investing heavily in its operational backbone – focusing on infrastructure, consistency and long-term scalability under the leadership of Franchise Director, Liam Hobbs. As MTLL continues to expand across the UK, 2026 to date shows a business not just climbing higher but making sure every rung of the ladder is firmly in place for its future.
From franchisee to franchise director
Recent growth has come under the leadership of Franchise Director Liam Hobbs, who joined the business as a franchisee before taking on the top role in 2022. Since then, the focus has been on expanding the network while retaining the local service and close-knit culture that helped establish the brand.
For Liam, his previous experience as a franchisee leaves him well placed to understand the needs of the network.
Scaling the support
Alongside franchise recruitment, MTLL has continued to invest in the infrastructure supporting its franchisees. This includes the launch of the MTLL Academy at the brand’s new head office, the expansion of the support team from two to five, and a growing programme of conferences, development days and business mentoring.
“We’ve focused on creating the right foundations,” added Liam. “Investing in training, support and infrastructure now means we’re in a strong position to continue expanding the network sustainably.”
Network growth
With those measures in place, franchisees across the network have raised the bar with their performance this year, underlining continued demand for their services.
Expanding to three vans and a team of five installers, MTLL Norfolk franchisee Ben Aires generated over 430 enquiries and completed 143 jobs in his first year. While at MTLL Portsmouth, Chris and Lynette Turner have secured 179 enquiries and 55 jobs since their launch event in February.
Technology driving improvements
The network is also trialling new technology designed to improve speed and efficiency. MTLL Nottingham, Derby and South Yorkshire has tested an AI-powered enquiry and booking system, with lead response times reduced to five seconds. It is developments like these that have led to 60% of enquiries now booked within five minutes and conversion rates increasing from 55% to 86%. Liam said:
The next step up
The growth comes as MTLL reports that enquiries increased year-on-year from 6,683 to 11,292, while five-star customer reviews have risen from 603 to 1,103.
“So far it’s been a fantastic year for the network, but we’re not standing still,” concluded Liam. “We’re excited to continue welcoming new franchisees, expanding into new regions of the UK and building a franchise fit for the future.”
