ChipsAway International Expands IMI Training Provision Following Trainer Accreditation Success

ChipsAway International is proud to announce that its Technical Director and Training Manager, Simon Kings and Paul Harper, have both successfully achieved reaccreditation for the IMI Senior Cosmetic Repair Qualification. In addition, they are also now qualified IMI assessors themselves, able to undertake assessment for the Senior Paint and Technician Paint Level qualifications.

These achievements mark a significant milestone for ChipsAway International and mean the business can now offer and assess IMI Senior-level qualifications both internally and externally, supporting professional development across the wider cosmetic repair industry.

The Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) Senior Cosmetic qualification is a respected industry benchmark, recognising advanced technical competence and best practice in cosmetic vehicle repair. Reaccreditation confirms that ChipsAway’s Head Trainers continue to meet the highest industry standards and remain aligned with current techniques, processes, and quality requirements.

Crucially, the addition of IMI assessor status for Senior Paint and Technician Paint Level qualifications enables ChipsAway International to deliver and assess these qualifications directly. This expanded training provision is available to the ChipsAway franchise network, as well as to external technicians and individuals seeking to achieve recognised IMI accreditation to support career progression, credibility, and technical excellence.

“This is an important step forward for ChipsAway as a training provider,” comments Simon. “Not only does this strengthen the support we offer our franchise network, but it also allows us to open up senior-level IMI qualifications to the wider industry, helping technicians gain valuable formal recognition for their skills.”

By expanding access to these industry-recognised qualifications, ChipsAway continues to demonstrate its commitment to raising standards, supporting career development, and investing in the future of cosmetic vehicle repair.
