Betterclean founder runs marathon for favourite charities
Dan van Kuyk, creator of the Betterclean Services franchise model, will be running in this year’s Virgin Money London Marathon on Sunday 24th April to raise money for charity.
Alongside his wife Lisa and friend Simon Ballard, Dan and the team are raising money for two charities, CLIC Sargent and Macmillan Cancer Support.
CLIC Sargent is the UK’s leading cancer charity for children and young people, and their families, providing clinical, practical, financial and emotional support to help them cope with cancer and get the most out of life. Macmillan provides a range of services for people affected by cancer.
The team are aiming to raise £2,000 for each charity. As well as sponsorship money, they are also arranging various fundraising events before the big day including a silent auction, which has so far raised over £2,000.
” I’m really excited to be fulfilling a dream to run the London Marathon and we’re delighted with the amount of money we’ve been able to raise so far. “
To prepare for the 26 miles and 385 yard race through the streets of London, Dan and his teammates have been training for the last nine months and recently completed the Silverstone Half Marathon. He comments: “In my spare time I love being outdoors, running, hill walking and mountaineering among other activities. I’m really excited to be fulfilling a dream to run the London Marathon and we’re delighted with the amount of money we’ve been able to raise so far.”
Dan, who purchased the Betterclean business in 2005 and launched the bfa accredited franchise model in 2011, is committed to supporting his community. As well as this latest fundraising opportunity, he has been a Group Scout Leader for almost 14 years and supports many charities, including Dartmoor Search and Rescue, RNLI and The Woodland Trust.
