A New Xperience For Local Children
True to its vision to increase children’s participation in physical activity and sport by making it as fun and enjoyable as possible, A-Star Sports is set to increase its Chester and Flintshire opportunities for young children to access creative non-traditional physical activities as well as its established range of fundamentals through to ten core sports.
Chester’s new Regional Manager Gary Yates
The development comes as a result of the recent merger with leading physical activity provider Sports Xtra and the introduction of their highly popular Xperiences such as Spy, Detective and Adventure.
The A-Star Sports flagship franchise operating in and around Chester will be the first in the UK to offer the Xperience and A-Star Sports brands together under the umbrella of Sports Xtra (Franchising) Ltd.
Gary says: “I’m very much looking forward to expanding holiday club provision and offering new and exciting extra-curricular activities in the local area.
“It’s a very important time for our industry and, as a result of the merger, we’re in a unique position to provide increasingly positive opportunities for children through local venues, schools and wider organisations as well as maintaining high standards for our coaches as an award-winning employer.”
These exciting developments will be launched by new regional manager Gary Yates, who joined the local team in April. Gary brings with him substantial experience in managing events, volunteers and coaches at the University of Birmingham as well as being a coach himself and having a genuine passion to help develop well-rounded children who enjoy healthy activity.
In early 2015, the local franchise was awarded a Simplyhealth Healthy Workplace Award for the support it gives to its employees and, in addition to co-founder and director Gary Bassett winning the ‘Local Star’ accolade, was crowned the region’s Best After School Activity class as voted for by the Mums in the Know network of readers.
Sports Xtra / A-Star Sports, Chester & surrounding areas, delivers weekly multi-sports classes to over 600 children and provides over 3,000 holiday club sessions and 250 parties every year. It employs 12+ full- and part-time coaches and is looking to grow the team for the new delivery of extra-curricular activities for children aged 3-12 years.
