Fastway Couriers
Management Franchises With Fastway - The World's Largest Courier Franchise
Within ten years of opening in Australia, Fastway Couriers became the country's largest parcel carrier, leaving its better known global competitors in the shade.
Since February 2004 the Fastway success story has been building in the UK and with over 300 franchisees, Fastway Couriers is already one of the UK's top 10 franchise organisations and the Australian success story is being emulated here in the UK.

A management franchise for business people, the Fastway Regional Franchisee recruits a team of Courier Franchisees and trains them in the unique Fastway method. Case Studies
Ed James - Northumberland Tyne & Wear:

Ed was one of the country's first Regional Franchisees and established the Northumberland, Tyne and Wear region in November 2003. The business has developed consistently over the past four years but is now experiencing even more dramatic growth as the Fastway network expands. Currently 16 couriers operate within the region. As a result of growth, Courier Franchisees are now sub dividing their territories by selling part of their exclusive area (a process we call splitting) for a capital gain to enable them to cope with the demand for their services.
Parcel movements have more than doubled each year and this
year the Regional Franchise
it is on target to see almost 0.5 million parcel movements through the Blaydon depot. Ed's business now has a turnover in excess of £1.2 million per annum, and is about to chalk up its 1000th customer.
In September 2007 Ed won the accolade of Fastway Couriers first ever UK Regional Franchisee of the Year, a honour that also earned him and his wife a two week trip to Australia where he will holiday and have the opportunity to visit the largest Fastway Regional Franchises in the world.
Amit Desai - West Yorkshire
Franchising provided Amit Desai the chance to become his own boss, with the franchisor safety net of the tried and tested Fastway system that is successfully being used by over 1700 franchisees around the world. Amit was 21 when he bought the West Yorkshire Regional Franchise in November 2004. "In my job I didn't like the fact that my income was capped because of my youth. I bought the franchise with four others for £100,000 and now have 17 Courier Franchisees and they are now beginning to split their territories, the next stage of our business development. We recently moved to a new 10,700 sq foot depot where we have the capacity to handle 7,500 parcels a week but are already planning another move next year to a 30,000 plus sq foot depot to cope with the continuing growth of the business. I enjoy the work and have been impressed by the training and support provided by the UK Master Franchise. My business is growing and the future is very exciting for everyone involved in the Fastway network" says Amit, now 24.
Regional franchisees
Fastway Couriers Regional Franchisees "recruit" Courier Franchisees (CF's) to operate parcel collection and delivery services within their own exclusive territories. As the CF business grows the CF sub divides and sells off part of their exclusive territory for a capital gain to enable them to concentrate on a smaller area where they can provide an even better level of service.
Courier Franchisees Caroline Cruz and Peter Home purchased their CF territory from Beds Bucks & Herts Regional Franchisee Harj Thind in January 2006 and split in February 2007 for a price of £22,000. In October 2007 they split their territory again for £16,000. RF Harj Thind, has seen the Beds, Buck
s & Herts business explode from just 233 parcels in the first month of trading June 2002 to an on target annual projection of 750,000 in 2007. "As a Regional Franchisee you are managing the entire regional business on a day to day basis." explains Harj "this includes working with your Courier Franchisees to help them develop their business, we have achieved a number of national firsts within the Regional Franchise, the first to £100,000 of sales in a month, then to £150,000 in a month but to be working with Caroline and Peter to help them become the first CF's in the country to achieve 2 splits has been extremely rewarding. I have no hesitation in recommending a businessman to purchase a Fastway Regional Franchise."

"We heard an ad on the radio and thought Fastway was a good opportunity to be our own bosses. The first split happened a lot earlier than we had expected. The purchaser heard our advertising and saw the van. He contacted our Regional Franchisee (RF), Harj Thind, who helped us with the process of the sale. Having a smaller area gave us much more time to market our services and work with our sales rep. We began planning our second split almost immediately after the first. The second split occurred 7 months later selling for £16,000 in October 2007. Our advice to other CF's is simple, we make sure we follow the Fastway system and work closely with our RF and Sales Rep, do the same."
