FOR a chance to explore a full range of investment opportunities, a visit to the National Franchise Exhibition at NEC, Birmingham on October 1 and 2 is a must.
While they are there, aspiring franchise owners can tap into the knowledge and experience of some of the UK’s leading business figures, including Richard Forte, chief operations officer of McDonald’s UK, and Tim Watts, chairman of Pertemps, both of who will be speaking a free seminar programme that forms part of the event.
“There’s often no better way to learn about running your own successful business than hearing the real life accounts of people who are doing it themselves,” said Adrian Goodsell, franchise manager at exhibition organisers Venture Marketing Group.
on Friday October 1 Tim Watts will present the keynote address ‘Leading your business to success’, sharing the knowledge he has gained since joining his family’s business in 1970.
Today Pertemps has more than 150 branches throughout London and a turnover in excess of £400 million, and he will be discussing the importance of effective leadership, setting short-term targets to meet long-term goals, and maintaining a healthy work/life balance to help ensure that a business is a profitable venture.
On Saturday, Richard Forte will share the secrets of successful franchising in his presentation, ‘Why franchisees are well placed to weather the economic storm’, looking at what customers value during a recession, the importance of businesses continuing to invest and innovate, and the partnership structure of the world’s most famous family restaurant’s franchise model.
Also presenting on Saturday is businesswoman Jo Haigh, author of ‘An Entrepreneur's Guide’, who will shed light on the secrets of networking success and how to consolidate new contacts into an organisation’s objectives with ‘Using networking to boost your business’.
Other free features designed to add value to a visit to the event include the Lloyds TSB Business Plan Clinic, Franchise Resales Pavilion, Franchisee Panels and Franchise Starting Point.
“All of these features, along with the opportunity to meet more than 150 local and international exhibitors, will give potential franchisees all the information they need when it comes to deciding their next career challenge,” added Mr Goodsell.
