McDonald's wins gold

The ‘Gold' award at this year's British Franchise Association's (bfa) Franchisor of the Year Awards went to McDonald's


Home Instead Senior Care won the Silver award and Bronze went to etyres. Autosmart was recognised for its support programme with the HSBC Franchisee Support Award and Belvoir Lettings lifted the the trophy for Express Newspapers Brand Builder.

The five winners were selected by an expert judging panel from the 15 finalists in May. The winners, revealed at the Heritage Motor Centre, Warwickshire, reflect the most entrepreneurial and ethical franchises in the UK, regardless of business sector, size or geography.

Brian Smart, director general, British Franchise Association (bfa), commented on the winners: "This has been another inspirational year for franchising. Each year the awards unearth fantastic success stories and demonstrations of ethical franchising at work.

"Our judging panel were presented with some of the best examples of innovation, brand development and franchisee support that they have ever seen and it has been a privilege to recognise these truly outstanding franchisors. Each of our winners is a credit to the sector."

McDonald's Restaurants is the biggest family restaurant business in the world, serving more than three million customers a day in the UK alone.
