Looking after number one!
Are you in need of some motivation? Energy and enthusiasm can easily wane away in everyday life. Craig Goldblatt explains how you can maintain positive thinking through some simple motivational exercises, ultimately helping you achieve your goals to be successful in business
Every human being I have ever met has habits, rituals, beliefs and rules to live by. In my opinion the successful, happy and fulfilled people are the ones who have chosen to purposefully create a life they feel they deserve.
Successful people understand that there is one person solely responsible for their success and it is themselves.
So with this in mind, I have formulated five key fundamentals to designing and living the successful life that you deserve.
Start your engine
You would not expect a premiership football team to arrive on the pitch to battle it out with a rival club without a warm up. The same applies in business - you need to warm yourself up and get your team to do the same before the phone is picked up, the prospect has been met or before a sales meeting.
Every morning I would recommend dedicating 20 minutes to set yourself up for the day. You could do some exercise and take a 20 minute walk. While exercising, think about your friends and family, your fitness, opportunities, challenges and the choices you have. Likewise, encourage your team to focus on something positive before they start their day. No one can be expected to perform well throughout the day if they start off feeling stressed and overwhelmed.
Ask and believe
In life we get what we expect and deserve - in this world of abundance and fast-paced living, the phrase ‘seek and you shall find’ is more relevant than ever before.
There is so much around us, so much opportunity, so why then have we not all got what we deserve?
To get all the success you deserve, you need to be very clear about what you want; then write it down, put it on the fridge, by your bed, wherever you will be constantly reminded of it - tell all the people that you love that this is what you are going to get in the next year and BELIEVE IT! Get your team to do the same – do not assume that you know what their hopes and aspirations are – what is motivating to one will have the opposite effect on someone else in your team.
Ask a better question
Some people are consistently telling themselves how wrong their life is or, that they do not have enough of something. Do not allow this view of scarcity take hold of your team – remember that what you focus on is what you get!
Ask for things you deserve and know will come true. Instead of a bad question such as, “why am I overweight?”, ask a better question, for example, “where shall I exercise this morning?”
Surround yourself with success
You are who you spend your life with. Not only are we responsible for our own life we are also responsible for who we spend our life with.
If eight boys are smoking and a ninth child comes across the gang, how long is it until they want to try the cigarette? If eight boys are playing football and a ninth child comes across the game, how long is it until they want to play?
Success is all around us if we open our eyes. Find out what you want to get good at and then find yourself a peer who is walking the walk and walk with them!
Enjoy!
Make a living out of what you love to do! Inspire your teams by your example to do the same and see the improvement in results. The more you enjoy what you do the better you will be.
