Drain Doctor Business in Portugal is seeking more staff

Recession-busting Drain Doctor Plumbing - the UK’s largest emergency plumbing and drain repair service - is expanding its recently opened business venture in mainland Europe.
Launched in January with an official opening attended by local VIPs, international VIPs, company directors and staff, the company’s operation in Loulé in the Algarve region of Portugal has created a great deal of interest. So much so in fact that Drain Doctor is seeking to employ one or two more technicians to service the level of demand.
Drain Doctor director Jan Mitman said: "We are always hearing about how the world is in recession and that everyone is cutting back. However, here in the Algarve, as elsewhere, Drain Doctor is expanding.
"We are looking for two more qualified technicians to join the business to assist us with expansion as the level of business in Portugal increases."
Francisco José Ferreira São Vicente, the company's operations manager for Portugal, added: "Our first jobs have been coming from villa management companies and owners and from local restaurants.
"We have already carried out a number of 'no dig' repairs; this type of repair was not commonly available in Portugal until Drain Doctor arrived. The team has also been busy clearing blocked restaurant drains and advising restaurateurs on fitting grease traps to prevent future blockages.
"Bringing the Drain Doctor standard of service to the Portuguese market – we are not just dealing with the immediate task of clearing a blocked drain but offering a long-term solution to a continuing problem – is having a major impact on the local drainage and plumbing market. That is why we now need to employ some new technicians."
In the UK, Drain Doctor is a franchisor with 104 owner-operated businesses around the UK.
The company-owned Drain Doctor business in the Algarve region covers Loulé, Faro, Silves, Vilamoura, Portimão and Lagos. It is demonstrating the concept of Drain Doctor’s guaranteed 24 hours per day 365 days per year service with a fixed price ‘menu’ and no call-out or out-of-hours charges.
Drain Doctor chairman Freddie Mitman said: "We are delighted with the immediate impact which we are having following the launch of the business in Portugal. It helps to demonstrate that there is an opportunity for a company offering excellent service in a country where standards in this industry are generally fairly relaxed.
"As soon as the company-owned operation is fully established we will start franchising the system in the rest of Portugal."
