CSI classes inspire children
Examining finger-prints and hair samples, using digital microscopes and working the field scene are all part of the Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) lessons run by ComputerXplorers at Dashwood Primary School in Banbury.
Jennie Hopkins, ICT Co-ordinator at Dashwood Primary, Banbury says: “I decided it would be perfect for our students to develop their confidence and build up skills in core areas such as literacy, maths, science, music and art. The children are thoroughly enjoying using the digital microscopes to solve crimes. It’s created a real buzz about learning in lots of areas of the curriculum!”
ComputerXplorers is a new concept in computer assisted learning for 3-13 year olds in the Cotswolds. They help children to master technological skills at an early age and increase their e-confidence and competence, giving students a great head start to their education. Lessons are held in nurseries, pre-school settings, schools, after school clubs and holiday camps.
Nicola Petty, owner of ComputerXplorers Cotswolds says: “It’s been great working with Dashwood Primary School – the staff and pupils have demonstrated a real passion for learning and the lessons are really popular.”
Jennie added, “We’re really lucky to have such great ICT facilities and I’m always keen to find new uses for them. The lessons offered by ComputerXplorers offer a fresh approach to learning and the children are really excited about them.”
