LEADING automotive paintwork repair specialist ChipsAway is a victim of its own success, says its Chief Executive Lloyd Evans.
Following an extensive national marketing campaign, which included high profile TV advertising, the company has seen demand for its ‘on the spot’ paintwork repairs soar by 30 per cent again this year, in spite of the prevailing economic climate.
Mr Evans said: “This is great news for us and for our existing franchisees, however, in areas where the number of new leads is high, but where there is no ChipsAway franchisee operating, it’s clearly frustrating both for us and for customers.
“On the positive side, this presents a clear opportunity prospective business owners. With the current financial situation and an unstable jobs market, we are sure there are plenty of hard-working, ambitious people across the UK who will jump at the chance to run their own business with the support of an experienced franchisor and proven demand from potential customers.
“We estimate that this year alone we have generated enquiries with a potential value of around £24m, while leads worth an estimated £500,000 have come from areas where we currently have no franchisee in place. If that’s not an excellent platform for launching a ChipsAway business, I don’t know what is.”
Former heavy plant driver Ryan Lythe, one of ChipsAway’s newest franchisees, is proof of the promising business potential. Almost a year after launching his business he is still amazed by the success of his franchise.
Over his launch weekend, he generated estimates worth £10,000, guaranteeing work for his first few weeks. Since then, he has been constantly busy, with his diary fully booked weeks ahead. Already, he’s looking for premises to set up a ChipsAway CarCare Centre, a fixed base workshop, and plans to take on an employee to help him manage the rapidly increasing demand for his services.
He said “I’m confident about investing in premises and an employee. If I follow the business model and rely on ChipsAway’s continued support, I know I can grow my business. I’ve come a long way very quickly and I wouldn’t change my new lifestyle for anything. I look forward to going to work, my working day absolutely flies by, and I get paid for doing a job that I love.”
ChipsAway also provides services to a growing portfolio of national account customers, including BT Fleet, UPS, Morrisons and others, which directly benefits franchisees like Mr Lythe.
Mr Evans added: “We have seen a staggering 167 per cent increase in this area. There is a huge business opportunity here, we just need to find the right individuals to join us and step straight into success.”
