StumpBusters is the UK’s largest tree stump removal network.  We use advanced machinery to easily remove tree stumps by grinding them into a mulch. 
 
This large market comes from the wide variety of reasons trees and stumps are removed. The trees have already been felled and your business will come by referrals from tree surgeons, contractors, private houses and direct responses from local & national advertising.

Started in 1994 in the Thames Valley, the company has expanded to cover 40 territories across the UK.

The Business

Tree Stump removal machines come in a range of sizes from 24” wide (to easily access most rear gardens) to 36” (to tackle the really big jobs). Motorised and controlled by hydraulics, our machines can remove most trunks (anything up to a 14’ diameter) with no hard manual work involved. With over 16 years of experience, we know and use the best equipment to minimise any maintenance or down time.  

By avoiding any other aspects of tree work, we maintain our independence and offer a complimentary service that builds strong relationships with tree surgeons and other contractors.
 
Once established in your territory, a steady stream of business comes to you from: 
Tree surgeons, landscape gardeners, builders, golf courses, hotels, land management professionals, fencing &  driveway contractors and many more.

In addition you’ll benefit from Google Adwords and other internet advertising that you manage locally plus the search and awareness benefits of our national advertising.

The franchise package costs £27,500 including the ownership of the specialist machine.
Our annual fee is £3,345 (waived for first three months) over the 5 year contract.
In addition a van or suitable 4x4 plus a custom made trailer for £2150 + VAT will get you started

Franchisees

Our Franchisees come from a wide range of backgrounds including sales, finance, building, farming, police, taxi drivers and social work to name a few. All share the same strong desire to be independently successful, motivated , enjoy the fresh air and be part of a nationwide team.

Mike Cook and Martin Chignall established StumpBusters in the Thames Valley in 1994. Starting as a part-time business alongside their other businesses, it quickly proved itself as a success and they decided
to franchise the rest of the UK.

Duncan Crundall 
Our first franchisee started his Glasgow franchise in January 1996. Originally in the telecoms industry he took on a franchise to work part-time, and found himself so busy that within three years he purchased a new machine and hired a second operator. Duncan has decided to retire at age 71!

Paul Chandler
In April 1998 left his job as IT Auditor at the Bank of England, to take on the East Anglia StumpBusters region. Enjoying a change of life and scenery his business has also flourished.
