Simply Skills Franchise Overview
The Simply Skills Franchise represents a chance to run your own business without being alone. You will be supported by the Simply Skills team, in areas of organisation, delivery and management of high-quality football coaching programmes, as well as innovation, training, advertising, marketing and business planning. Regular training is provided to include input and guidance from the Directors, Educational and Safeguarding Advisor and Business Mentor.
Simply Skills Long Term Player Development Overview
1) Simply Active
The ‘Simply Active' stage focuses on developing physical development and confidence through active play, using a variety of fun and interactive football-related games and activities to engage children in physical activity.
- 3 to 6 years old Ages may overlap ±
- Cooperative games
- Small sided games played Reception, Year 1 and 2: 4 v 4 games maximum
- Pitch Size: 30 x 20 yards maximum
- Small Mini-soccer goals
2) Simply FUNdamentals
6 to 9 years old Ages may overlap ± The ‘Simply FUNdamentals' stage is well structured and FUN! The emphasis is on developing basic movement literacy and Fundamentals movement skills through disguised football-related learning activities.
- Small sided games played U7 and U8: 5 v 5 games U9 and U10: 7 v 7 games
- Pitch Size: U7 and U8: 30 x 20 yards to 40 x 30 yards U9 and U10: 50 x 30 yards to 60 x 40 yards
- Mini-soccer goals
3) Simply Skilful
9 to 12 years old Ages may overlap ± The ‘Simply Skilful' stage focuses on acquiring and developing the technical skills of football, and learning to train, but still in a fun-based environment.
The 7 v 7 game is introduced, progressing to 9 v 9. Children and young people should also learn the basic tactical skills and principles, and ancillary capacities
- Small sided games played U10: 7 v 7 games U11 and U12: 9 v 9 games* (Year 6 can still have option of 7 v 7 in schools due to pitch logistics, etc.)
- 9 v 9 to be an option through to U16 to support new girls' leagues and rural areas
- Mini-soccer goals
- Pitch Size: U10: 50 x 30 yards to 60 x 40 yards U11 and U12: 70 x 40 yards to 80 x 50 yards
- 16 x 7 goals
4) Simply Specific
12 to 15 years old Ages may overlap ± The main objective of this phase is to consolidate basic football skills, introduce the basic elements of tactics and to address the two critical periods of physical development, namely the aerobic base and strength of players. It should be noted that both aerobic and strength trainability is dependent on maturation levels and not solely chronological age.- 11 v 11 games Played: U13 to U1
- Pitch Size: 90 x 50 yards to 110 x 70 yard
- Optional 16 x 7 goals for U13 and U14 (otherwise 24 x 8 goals)

Our selection of franchisees is based on an assessment of overall football teaching/coaching experience, personal qualifications and entrepreneurial attitude. The Simply Skills Franchise would particularly suit PE teachers or competent football coaches who have the necessary drive and determination to want to build their own business but need the direction and support of a proven company with proven coaching techniques. We also look for individuals with a proven ability to effectively develop themselves and others, and a history of previous success in business or personal endeavours. Initial Franchisee Training
- The initial training will take place at our expense over a three-day period and will cover the following areas:

- Sales and Marketing for your business – making the right contacts and maximising your sales
- Educational Seminar – to include interview with our Company Educational & Safeguarding Advisor, an existing Head teacher
- Employing Staff – recruiting, training, mentoring and monitoring – observing and assessing coaching practice
- Media, graphic and web training
- Administration, accounting and reporting for your Simply Skills business
- This comprehensive training package will give you sufficient knowledge and skills to confidently begin trading within your territory.
Management Service Fee
A management service fee of 10% of your gross income is payable to Simply Skills Head Office on a quarterly basis.
