Franchise Resales is a unique service in the UK providing the opportunity for franchisees and franchisors to complete successful resales of their businesses.
Franchise Resales are experts in the process of selling and purchasing existing franchised businesses. Franchise Resales Limited was established in April 2007 by business partners Iain Martin and Derrick Simpson to address the growing demand for clarity and simplicity in the process of selling and buying existing franchised businesses.

Derrick has played an active role within UK franchising since 1988. From an early retail career including being a buyer for Selfridges and a Director of Blacks Leisure Derrick entered franchising in 1988. He joined Kall Kwik in 1990 moving into the area for which he is best known that of reselling existing franchisees businesses. When On Demand Communications was formed, combining the two leading print brands Kall Kwik and Prontaprint, Derrick became the Director of Franchise Development and it is here he established their very successful resales systems and processes becoming well known within the UK franchising sector as the person to go to for resales advice.
He has also spent time with the Myhome Group leaving in October 2006 to establish Franchise Resales Limited. Researching the marketplace it was clear there was a huge gap in the marketplace for resales expertise and, following discussions with many franchisors as to their requirements for resales and the hassle they cause, he refined and extended his system to become the highly structured and effective Franchise Resales System.
An active supporter of the British Franchise Association Derrick is currently member of the BFA Board. He is also a BFA accredited Qualified Franchise Professional and is a member of the QFP assessment panel. He is a regular speaker at BFA events and exhibitions on matters around franchise resales and is often consulted by existing members for advice on the subject.
Since it's launch Franchise Resales has grown to encompass Master Licence resales, sales of entire Franchisor networks and a Consultancy Service. It is however best known for the detailed management process to deliver successful resales for unit franchisees.
It has long been a topic of debate amongst BFA members, and non members, about the most efficient and effective way to expedite the smooth exit of their franchisees from the various franchised systems. Many involved have expressed their view but very few franchisors have ever grasped the nettle and put in place the necessary investment and structure to provide this vital service for their franchisees. Additionally as more franchise systems mature and their owners seek their own exits; Franchise Resales Limited is able to facilitate the sale of complete franchise networks on a confidential basis.
The operating system used by Franchise Resales Limited is based on the tried and tested processes used over many years by Derrick and Iain, refined and extended to become the definitive resales process in the UK.
The system is designed to remove the main reasons that resales often fail during the sales process thereby providing a comprehensive, secure and effective solution to the hassle of reselling a franchised business for both selling franchisees and franchisors as well as supporting purchasers through the sales / purchase process.The company is also supported by affiliated business valuation services, solicitors and business brokers. Many consultant firms, banks and solicitors can and do offer individual parts of the resales process but within the UK there is no one else that offers the entire "end to end" service provide by Franchise Resales.
