About Us
Our key aim as a business is to teach children how to cook nutritious food from scratch; helping them to learn a valuable life skill. Reflecting this aim we have built our brand on three values:- Development – Delivering good instruction, instilling good habits around food and its preparation
- Fun – An enjoyable relationship with food preparation will provide lasting inspiration in cooking and a love of food
- Healthy - We are interested in the long term benefit of our customers. Instilling good ideas of balance, proportion and the role of food as part of a healthy lifestyle
Our core offering consists of three key revenue streams:
- Classes and Clubs - individually tailored to the age and competency of the group being taught, with something different being made each week. We provide everything the children need, even down to laminated recipe cards and containers for taking their creations home.
- Parties – Usually taken at weekends our aim is to take all the stress out of the organizing from the parents - they provide the children, and we’ll provide everything else
- Tuition - one-to-one or small group tuition that is designed to provide a solid foundation for later life by developing key skills in the kitchen.

My name is Asma and I am based in North Milton Keynes. I bought the Smart Raspberry Franchise in June 2011.
It was a big decision, as it was starting something totally new in schools here in Milton Keynes. I think I must have called Head Office a hundred times... they were very supportive and used to put my mind at ease.
It was a good decision to buy the franchise, as a person who's passion is cooking and loves working with children. It has been a fun, exciting and satisfying job. The first few months were challenging, but I think that’s the hardest part when you are trying to set up any new business. Calling schools, making sure all the valid paperwork is up to date to start the business. Again, like I mentioned before Head Office were just on the other line giving me a lot of support.
The business is shaping up really well, I am now running 4 after school clubs and a couple of sure start centres during term time, with more lined up to start over the next couple of months. Party bookings are picking up as people start to hear about me in the area and holiday workshops seem popular. The feedback I have had has been really positive and most of the parents have been really happy and pleased with the classes, they all love the recipes.
It has been very busy and productive few months. The future is very promising and also the good thing is you can work around your children and home. I am looking forward to signing up more schools up for the new term, booking parties and more workshops which have been very popular.
